Light and exposure

A few words about us

Light is very interesting in terms of photography. Light can be manipulated in many ways, wether that be natural sunlight, or even studio lights, we have to have an element of it in every photo, otherwise there would be no photograph.

With this study, I decided to have a look at light itself, which can be hard to do.

However, if you stand in a dark room, turn your shutter speed / exposure to the correct requirement, then your camera can actually capture light as it moves. Now, it can't capture natural light, but something such as a glow stick or a phone light, the camera will be able to capture the path that light takes.

I manipulated this by asking some of my friends to hold their phone lights against some translucent coloured paper, that way, I can have different coloured light rather then the white light your phone gives off. Since I tweaked the exposure, my friends were able to draw in the air with their phones, which didn't seem to do much at first, but when the photo was fully taken, we could see their drawings they had created with their phones, since the camera is able to capture the path their phone lights took.
